About

The Nürburg is the castle ruin on the volcanic hilltop above Nürburg village — begun in the 12th century, one of the highest-situated castles in Rhineland-Palatinate, and the reason the circuit around it is called the Nürburgring at all.

The keep is climbable and the view from the top takes in most of the area this site maps: the track threading through the Eifel hills, the villages, and on a clear day far beyond. It is a short, steep walk from the village.
